FIXIM Pacific Work is an online booking service in Australia that connects homeowners with local tradies for jobs such as mowing, cleaning and maintenance. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we look after it. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
If you book a job:
- your name, mobile number and (if you give it) email address
- the job address and suburb
- details of the job, such as measurements, quantities, notes and any photos you upload
If you sign up as a tradie:
- your name or business name, email, mobile number, ABN (if you give it) and the suburbs you cover
- your password, which is stored scrambled (hashed), so we can't read it
- a record of the credits you buy and spend, and the jobs you take
- if you turn on "Follow me", your phone's approximate location while FIXIM Pacific Work is open, used only to match you with nearby jobs. We keep only the latest one, stop using it after 8 hours, and never show it to customers. Turn it off any time.
We don't collect or store card numbers. Payments for tradie credits are handled by Stripe.
How we use it
- to show your job to tradies and let a tradie contact you to arrange it
- to send you text messages about your booking: when it's taken, finished or handed back
- to send tradies alerts about new jobs
- to keep records of credit purchases, issue receipts and tax invoices, and meet our legal obligations
- to sort out problems, prevent misuse and improve the service
We don't sell your information and we don't use it for unrelated marketing.
Who we share it with
- Tradies: tradies can see the suburb, size and price of open jobs. Once a tradie takes your job, they see your name, mobile number and address so they can do the work.
- Customers: when a tradie takes a job, the customer is told the tradie's name and mobile number.
- Service providers: Stripe (payments), Twilio (text messages) and our hosting provider (DigitalOcean). Some of these may store information on servers outside Australia.
- Anyone else only if the law requires it.
Pacific workers
If you make a worker profile to find work in Australia, we collect your name, mobile number, email (if you give it), home country and town, where you are now, how you hope to work in Australia, your skills, work experience, licences, English level, start date and the places you'd work.
For your job-ready list we only ask whether you have a passport, a visa medical and a police certificate, and the month and year of each. We don't collect passport numbers, copies of passports, medical reports or police certificates, and you shouldn't send them to us. You give those to Home Affairs or your employer when you're hired.
If you're already in Australia and you agree, we check your work rights on the Department of Home Affairs' VEVO system. We ask for the details we need on a phone call, use them only for that check, and keep only the result (for example "can work for any employer") and the date.
We show your profile to employers only if you tick "Show my profile to employers". They see your work, skills, checks, start date and the places you'd work, never your phone, email or address. We put you in touch only when an employer is interested and you agree. We don't sell your details, and workers never pay FIXIM Pacific Work.
If you're an employer and ask us for workers, we keep your company and contact details and what you need, to follow up and introduce suitable workers.
FIXIM Pacific Work doesn't give immigration advice or help with visa applications. You can delete your profile at any time from your profile page, and it's removed straight away. We delete worker profiles that haven't been used for 2 years.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and account information while it's needed to run the service, and payment records for as long as Australia tax law requires. You can ask us to delete your information sooner where we're not required to keep it.
Keeping it safe
The site uses an encrypted connection (https), passwords are hashed, and access to the system is limited. No system is completely secure, so please let us know straight away if you think something is wrong.
Your choices
You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing buzzlemoni@gmail.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, contact us first and we'll try to fix it. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
